FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHY DO I NEED A MITIGATION SPECIALIST

90% of criminal cases in Minnesota result in a guilty plea being entered. A good sentencing strategy is arguably the most important part of the entire process of the criminal case. Effective sentencing arguments require time and preparation, which we are able to devote to every case. By hiring a mitigation specialist you are minimizing the time you will have to spend on case preparation, background investigation, and responding to family and other collateral sources.  It also insures that you have an independent, licensed professional validating your arguments.

We have a specific skill set rooted in our education, training, and experience which allows us to connect with clients to ascertain relevant mitigating information to make compelling sentencing arguments. Additionally, we are proficient in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing large amounts of records and information into a concise and effective product. Our knowledge of community treatment options allows us to coordinate comprehensive community based treatment alternatives to incarceration which give Judges a basis to grant departures to probation. These unique skills make us a vital resource for you to get positive outcomes for your clients.

WHAT TYPES OF CASES DO YOU WORK ON?

We handle all types of criminal cases in both State and Federal Courts. We work with adults and juveniles to address: Misdemeanor, Gross Misdemeanor, Felony, Juvenile Delinquency and Certification cases. While our focus is on cases where clients face presumptive prison sentences, we are also effective in cases where there are competency or culpability concerns, or where a community treatment plan can assist in plea negotiations. Please see "Services" page for more information.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are based in the Twins Cities metro, but are willing to travel. Since the majority of our work can be done remotely we are able to work on cases throughout the State of Minnesota.

WHAT IS THE COST OF YOUR SERVICES?

We typically bill hourly for our services. Following a free case consultation, we are happy to put together a proposed billing statement and contract for your consideration.

HOW CAN I HIRE MN MITIGATION SERVICES?

Please contact us at mnmitigationservices@gmail.com and provide us with some general information about your case. We will then set up a free case consultation to discuss what services might be most appropriate. Please note that our reputation in the Court is important to us, so we may be limited on what services we can provide based on the individual facts of the case or the client. Once we decide to take the case, a billing contract is signed, then one of our mitigation specialists will begin working on the case.
